Jim Henson & Fantasy-- The Storyteller
I've been a Jim Henson fan for years-- I grew up with The Dark Crystal and The Muppets. Stereotypically, perhaps, I loved Labyrinth growing up (let's be honest, I still do). You can imagine my delight when I discovered the 1990s TV program The Storyteller. This short television show featured John Hurt and Brian Henson as a Storyteller and his dog as they present different stories from all over Europe. There was a follow up series featuring Michael Gambon that focused on Greek myths.
The Storyteller captures all of Henson's magical charm while also bringing in Hurt's engaging performances. The puppetry is interesting, the variety of the stories allows for many different creatures.
I would definitely recommend the series for lovers of Fantasy and Henson.
